Most of us like to procastinate and we will wait till new year to start a single thing. Last year around this time, I made up my mind to start a blog and website. Before I started this website, I did have a few but they are abandoned by me. That is really sad.
It is hard to keep up a website when you have so many things around. It is like having a second job, in addition to your primary job. I make a small, yet powerful decision to keep writing a blog. I have learned tremendously by making myself to do what I do not need to do. I keep it up during 2013 and now, it is the first anniversary. Let's see how many anniversary this blog will last.
Starting a website during the New Year allow the anniversary to fall on the same day too. So, you get additional reason to celebrate the New Year. An additional task that you may get is planning for your website as one of your new year resolution. I have a 1/2 year plan ready for blogging in 2014. I am excited.
Join me to celebrate the anniversary for this blog. Happy New Year and may 2014 bring luck and peace to you.
My blog is officially 1 years old today.
A blog without reader is just like a food without eater, equally disappointing. You probably noticed that I am a food technologist. By profession, this isn't making any sense.
To prove that this is not making any sense, I was asked why this blog, why all these social media? At that time, my mind went blank and my soul tell me. "Opps Felicia, you got into trouble again."
Then, another question came. This time, more drastic. "Would you consider keeping what you are doing?" Without any further thought, I said yes. To be an owner of a blog/website is easy but an owner of current website is challenging. What's difficult about this is keep updating the website and giving it a fresher look so, I can continue to impress you, my audience is challenging.
The meaning of social media marketing to me, is like a companion. I am an introvert, although I am quite talkative. I needed a place to channel and spread thoughts about food and life; and I found a perfect virtual space for myself.
I am proud of this website, not because of the number of visitors I have but it is made from my effort. I am a person that know nothing about website code writing or programming and yet, I made and sustain a website without help from others. I create the welcoming banner at the front page, design the structure and arrangement of this website.
We live in a world where anything and everything can be a topic of interest for you, myself and others. I write about random thoughts and made it available through my diary. I love having readers, reading my diary but it it get too personal, just think of it as a private diary.
Today, I am going to ask and answer a question. The question is define yourself in a word. It is a tough question because you don't want to be arrogant or be too humble. I choose the word diverse because I am a person who is very diverse in what I aim for, what I choose to learn and what I do.
I love being a blogger because of the diverse nature of what I could learn and do. I love keeping up with being an educator and further, inspire you about the inside of food and food choices that you chose to make. I love being around with consumers, just to get an insight of what the consumer think about the food product and made improvement to provide better products. I love being a food scientist, that overlook the production quality and safety because I know that is the utmost value a consumer will get from a company. Most of all, I want you to know that there is always someone in the world that care for your choice and your health.
I love getting on social network because that is how and where I could reach more people right from my fingertips. Life is diverse because I never stop learning and keep connected.

This Christmas, I felt what it is called love because I have friends that care as much as my family did. I felt blessed for being alive and being able to continue to spread love out.
It is true that life is always challenging especially for myself for I take life as a challenge, keep on improving myself for better.
I am spending more time with friends and family this Christmas for this is the season where we learned to take a little time off from work and spare this precious time to create moments that we never forget in our lifetime.
We live in the current moment and for future. We need to create future but also, taking care of current moment. I missed out lots of fun and joy because of my desire for education. Never did I knew that friends that show sincere love and care are the most precious gift I can have for Christmas. To get a Bingo line, I don't need to fill out the whole chart, I just need a line to complete it.
To live a life, I don't need the whole world to pray and care for me but just a few that makes up my life line.
Merry Christmas everyone and may the light of Christmas shine on you. Wishing you a Merry Christmas, have a great holiday and get a good bargain during Boxing Day.
This is probably the busiest Christmas ever- getting ready for 2014. My baby website here is at 1 year anniversary launch. :) One year of continuous writing and thoughts delivery.
Handling HACCP and writing business plan while doing some sales are quite a bit of experience that I hope to be able to practice my time management on them. These are not everything- I need to take care of my baby here. Also, it is Christmas greetings time. Look for Christmas greetings from Felicia. With 700+ contact, it might just take a while. I want to create a Christmas graphic for the greetings too, so it wouldn't just be plain 'Merry Christmas greetings'.
2013 in review and 2014 ahead are probably the most exciting newsletter to produce.

I like to redefine. This time around, I want to define the words 'skills'. We know skills are the important tools that we use to accomplished a task.
A lot of time, we are not acknowledging the skills we need until we really need it. Skills then, are define the important tools that one has when they need it.
Food science are a huge areas. A food scientist is expected to know everything from production to documentations. Imagine how much information that would be... One might argue that these information are standard type of information but the truth is every field has their own trick to their business. We don't regard ourselves as using food science skills when working as a food technologist because it has became a common practice of ours to go through production facility as per our food safety program. Things might go wrong at anytime- that is when our skills really shine out. Solving/ providing an immediate decision on what to do. Skills are not always regard as one until you need it.
I am not the purchasing person until I need the skills to source sample, getting a quote and recommending products that are best suited for the project. I know this is a task of purchasing department. I have been stealing other people job but it gives me top priorities to choose suppliers that I want without going to another person and explaining it to them, risking the possibility of misunderstanding.
Of course, one would argue this is a low level job that a manager wouldn't have time or need to do that. But, the pleasure of getting exactly what you need and building relationship with your suppliers- priceless.
Skills are worthy when you need it. The question is do we have the habit of accumulating these skills and hide them in our 'skill storage'.
Habits is what we used to. My work habit is that I got used to multiple mini projects that I kept making more for myself.
Wonderful way to make myself do more work and fill up my time with productive project. Have you seen my new blog series on what we eat as a reflection of what the society approves?
My friends think I am so healthy that pop and sodas never on my dining menu. But, hey I drink too but trying hard to limit myself. That is why we know Pepsi, coke etc still exist. We are accustomed to them. Many people can give testimonial of why they think pop drinks should exist. I still remember how university events are filled with soft drinks and pizza.
Of course, then it raises another question: does nutritionist or dietician consume soft drinks? Are they allowed to? They are- well, regard as unhealthy.
Our (society) definition of healthy and unhealthy affects how food products are made. I recently take 2 spoons of chia seeds daily for omega-3 because I think I need more omega-3.
Obviously, that's just one. The second one- at least one YouTube food science video a week. Search for food science on YouTube and find wonderful videos. I recently watched how reinovating serving methods brings memory experience for the diners. It is indeed an art.
Biggest mini project- portfolio. These include creating images and finding a medium to display my portfolio. It ranges from simple design, work experiences and school projects.
Some of you who follow the blog and website see that it kept changing. I promise you it will change for better. Learned how to build a website is one of my achievement this year.
