It's May already and apparently May is the month for allergy awareness.
Allergen is one of the concern for food manufacturers as we are seeing more and more people are affected by allergens. The common allergens are gluten, peanut, milk and seafood. For those who aren't aware of the consequences of allergic reaction, it can range from red rashes to anaphylactic shock resulting death consequences.
Allergens are any foreign materials (as define by personal body system) that trigger immune system to react against it. When it is a reaction from the body, there is basically not much you can do apart from avoid taking allergen causing foods or if you do happen to accidentally taken them, antihistamine shots may help but you need to discover it as early as possible.
There is always alternative treatment such as taking high doses of vitamin C and fish oils to boost your immune system and hopefully your immune system remembers that particular foods are not foreign materials, they are food. It is still consider alternative treatment. So, if you have any allergic issue, just try avoid taking those food.
And do you notice that May is the month where flower blooms and I have friends that are allergic to pollen. Perhaps this is more significant that why May is the Allergen Awareness Month.
