As long as we are a social being, we are influenced by our environment and other's choices/decision.
On top of 'you are what you eat', we need to add in 'we are what our environment made us'.
Of course, there are certain . The degree of social influence that affects each and everyone of us. For example, food choices often gets better and healthier if others are watching, especially when eating with super healthy people. OR if you are along with those who care more towards fast food and processed foods, chances are you take a little bit of these foods and perhaps, long exposure towards these foods provide addiction.
Social influences are a huge factors in our choices. Unless you are a strict diet person such as vegan or vegetarians, it is likely you would be influenced in some ways.
I have a few tips to be persistent on your stand.
1. Always remember "You are responsible for what you eat". You decide but be responsible.
2. Limit the number of times you can break your rule. For example, only take chocolate twice a week. After all, we probably need a break.
3. Learn to say "No". Saying no is hard because I want to keep being courteous. It is also a matter of social pressure but if you really care for the cause, why not? That's how vegetarian get away from meat, if you need to memorize an example.
4. As much as you get influences from other, try reverting the order. Influence others about what you believe in. It is hard but challenge yourself. Bring good eating habit to others even it meant 1 person per month.
Remember, getting a diverse and variety food for diet are essential for health.
