It is important for babies to get sufficient nutrients to grow, particularly vitamin D to prevent rickets condition. It is believed that babies should be getting sufficient amount of vitamin D during the first 12 months of birth as their bones are growing rapidly. The best source of vitamin D is from essentially free -from the sun. Babies are believed to need around 400IU of vitamin D, which shouldn't be a problem in Malaysia when there is consistently sunlight.
Excessive vitamin D can be stored in fat and liver. Exposure of sufficient sunlight during the summer months would be an essential source of vitamin D for the winter months. Loading in too much vitamin D is not going to be beneficial for your body. So, be moderate in getting your vitamin D.
